Deed Transfer
November 17, 2014
Mr. Thomas represented Husband. Husband, who was substantially older than Wife, had signed a deed transferring their house and land (five acres) to Wife’s name alone over a decade prior to the divorce. In the divorce, Wife claimed that Husband was not entitled to any portion of the real estate. Wife hired one of the most aggressive female attorneys in the state and fought hard and long in an attempt to keep the property all for herself. Mr. Thomas proved to the trial judge that Husband had transferred the property as an estate planning transaction. Husband was awarded half the value of the real estate, much to Wife’s dismay.
